Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the range of materials that are used for medical purposes, e.g. in dentistry or surgery. The student will gain knowledge about the area of metal, polymer, composite or ceramic materials, and their characteristics. The student will be able to define and design a material or material combination for the specific purpose of using a medical device (in vivo, first in direct contact with the body, in indirect contact with the body).
