To gain view of development of new scientific findings and their relation to development of technology in main branches of industry, most of all then of student’s own specialization

Summary

Course gives a brief view of basic issues of science and technology development from the beginning of man history up till present. It provides a view of development of scientific findings in relation to development of technology, which is observed from the point of its level in main industries. History of science and technology are substantial part of human history. Mutual social, economical and political links influencing this area enable better understanding of development of technical problem within socioeconomic context.

1.Opening session, introduction to the structure of the course, literature 2.Technology, technique and ancient and medieval origins of sciences 3.Renaissance notion of science and scholarship, signification of sciences 4.Science, technique and technology until the rise of industrial revolution, relation between science and technique 5.Development of sciences and technique during industrial revolution, formation of industrial centers in European and national contexts 6.History of science and technique in 1800s, social-economic context of technical development 7.Ore mining in feudalism 8.Ore and coal mining in 1600s and 1700s 9.Ore and coal mining during industrial revolution 10.Ore and coal mining in period of monopolistic capitalism 11.Ore and coal mining in period of the first republic 12.Ore and coal mining during the World War II 13.Mining technique, technology and machineries in 1945-1990 14.Ore and coal mining in 1945-1990
