Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student demonstrates basic knowledge in the area of internal and international politics. He can prove orientation in politics, based on the ability of independent judgment and is able, on the basis of knowledge of political science to understand the political situation in the Czech Republic, international politics and the European Union.

Summary

The purpose of this course is to give basic information about political science, its development, traditions, key terms, methods and theories. The course dwells on the problems of ideologies, state, democracy, political systems, political parties, political culture, human rights, international relationships, political aspects of the european integration processes. Course should give students basic knowledge abouot politics as well as the ability of orientation in other particular courses.

- Politologie jako společenský jev - Vznik a vývoj politologie, vědy o politice - Dějiny politického myšlení od antiky po současnost - Ideologie. Srovnání hlavních politických myšlenkových směrů současnosti, jejich vliv na vývoj euroamerické civilizace - Podstata, vznik, vývoj a současný stav demokracie - Liberální demokracie a její perspektivy - Soudobé nedemokratické politické systémy - Politický systém společnosti a jeho instituce - Volby a volební systémy - Politické strany. Minulost, současnost, opodstatnění existence - Zájmové a nátlakové skupiny, jejich organizační formy a funkce v politickém systému - Sdělovací prostředky a jejich vliv na politické chování - Politická kultura. Politika a morálka - Práva a svobody člověka v demokratické společnosti - Národnostní otázka. Příčiny a zdroje rasismu a xenofobie - Mezinárodní vztahy. Integrační procesy v Evropě po II. sv. válce
