Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Technology 1: The aim is to create a grounding of ESP language with respect to communication skills, i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening with the output level A2 – B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. International Express; the winter semester of the academic year 2020/2021 The main objective of the course is to create a grounding of business and technical English concerning communication skills, i.e. reading, writing, speaking, and listening with the output level B1-B2 (full-time) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. More emphasis will be put on mastering soft skills and working with technical texts.

Technology 1: The instruction focuses on managing vocabulary, grammar and phrases within the set range. Student talks about ways in which technology affects our lives, they are able to describe branches of technology, discuss inventions and their contribution to the society, characterizes basic material properties and technology in sport, talks about famous designers of the 20th century. International Express Intermediate; WS 2020/21 The instruction focuses on managing vocabulary, grammar and phrases within the set range. Students will demonstrate the acquisition of complex language skills, will be able to use terminology related to the main topics of the course. They will be able to choose suitable entertainment activities for business partners, to perform a small talk, to create various types of CVs, they will learn the appropriate vocabulary needed to lead team meetings, delegate tasks and control them. They will also master the skills related to working with technical texts.

Other requirements

Active participation during tutorials, the completion of assigned written and oral tasks, translation of technical texts, terminology testing, 80% attendance, min. test result: 65 %. Students are required to translate the given texts and learn new vocabulary based on them. Students will master both vocabulary and knowledge needed for their future careers. Teachers will check the progress by tests.
