Summary

The subject introduces to basics of professional computer data storing and processing, to database systems. Although two most available models are described, the relational database model is preferred. The different data types are demonstrated regarding to theirs memory forms, ranges, access methods, and operations.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Course-credit - participation on tutorials is obligatory, 20% of absence can be apologized, - elaborate programs (max. 40 points, min. 20 points), - pass the written tests (max. 60 points, min. 31 points), Point classification: 51-65 points, 66-85 points, 86-100 points.

Lectures 1. Fundamental concept definition. 2. Data levels organisation. 3. Data structure. 4. Data storage. 5. Forms of data organisation. 6. Data organisation in database management systems. 7. The basis of sets theory. Mathematical principle of relational databases. 8. Operations over the relations. 9. The basis of the relational database systems. 10.Structured query language (SQL) and the elementary commands. Practices 1. The data storage methods. The file types and relationships among them. 2. The system task modes: dialogs and programs. 3. The databases file structure definition and its change. 4. The data insertion into database files, the data changes. 5. Expressions and commands. 6. Fundamental input commands. 7. Multiple data manipulation commands. 8. Interactive form creation, the usage of it. 9. Interactive report creation, the usage of it. 10.The sample of programming.
