Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course provides theoretical and practical base for understanding the basic concepts of the theory of probability and statistics. Students are familiarized with the methods of statistical data gathering and analyzing, with the issue of choosing the appropriate statistical method and results presentation. The course includes a development of a student project (data analysis using MS Excel).

Summary

The basics of MS Excel. Combinatorics and probability. Random variable and its characteristics. Discrete random variable. Continuous random variable. Random vector. Statistical file with one factor. Statistical file with two factors. Regression and correlation. Point and interval estimations of parameters. Hypothesis testing. ANOVA.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Podmínky pro udělení klasifikovaného zápočtu (kombinovaná forma studia): - 50% účast ve cvičení (50% neúčasti lze omluvit) - odevzdání semestrálního projektu v zadaném termínu, v předepsané formě - absolvování písemných testů s minimálním ziskem 10 bodů za každý test Za semestrální projekt může student získat 30 bodů, za průběžné testy 70 bodů. Závěrečné hodnocení studenta se provádí podle následující tabulky: Získané body: Známka: 86-100 výborně 66-85 velmi dobře 51-65 dobře 0-50 nevyhověl

1.-3. Excel – formulas, graphs, contingency tables. Combinatorics. Probability. Random variable. 4.-6. Random vector. Statistical file with one and two factors. Regression and correlation. 7.-9. Point and interval estimates of parameters. Hypothesis testing. ANOVA.
