Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Collect the basic physical principles and laws of electricity and magnetism. Describe, clarify and interpret the particular natural phenomena in these fields of physics. Apply the simple mathematical methods for describing the corresponding physical phenomena. Illustrate obtained knowledge in the frame of the easy applications.

The subject of the basic physics course is connected with the subject Physics I and gives an overview of the theory of electricity and magnetism, and physical field, respectively.

Subject syllabus:

1. Introduction: Importance. 2. Electrostatics: electrical charge, Coulomb´s law; field intensity and potential, Gauss´s theorem; Poisson and Laplace equations; conductor in Electrostatic field, capacity of conductor and kondenzatore, field energy; dielectrics, vector of polarization and induction, field at the interface of two dielectrics. 3. Transfer of electrical charge: elektric current, current density, continuity equation; Ohm´s law in differential and integral form; electromotive fource; Kirchhoff´s rules; voltage and current sources, work and wattage of elektric current, Joule´s heat. 4. Stationary magnetic field: vector of magnetic induction; Biot-Savart law and its applications; Amper´s law and its applications; force in magnetic field, magnetic moment; vector of magnetic field intensity, Gauss´s law for magnetic field; magnetic polarization; field at the interface of two magnetics, magnetic curcuit, Hopkinson´s law. 5. Electromagnetic induction: magnetic flux, Faraday´s law, inductance and mutual inductance; energy of magnetic field, oscillatory CL and CRL curcuits. 6. Alternating current: Ohm´s zákon in the complex form; AC curcuits, RLC curcuit; transformer. 7. Maxwell´s equations: Integral and differential form nad their fundamental consequences. 8. Electromagnetic potentials: scalar and vector potential, basic equations and solutions.
