Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The subject includes these themes discussed in a context of the problems of the assigned doctoral work: the philosophy of measurement of uncertainties, standard uncertainty of the A type, standard uncertainty of the B type, combined standard uncertainty, extended standard uncertainty, determination of standard uncertainties, significance of determination of uncertainties in certified calibrating and testing laboratories, the reasons for introduction of certificates approving qualification for metrology and testing activities.

Summary
The topics of the subject are as follows: philosophy of the errors in
measurement and uncertainties, standard uncertainty of the type A, standard
uncertainty of the type B, combined standard uncertainty, widened standard
uncertainty, determination of the standard uncertainties, significance of
determination of uncertainties in accredited calibrating and testing
laboratories, certificate of qualification for gauging, measurement and
testing activities. As a part of the subject exam the doctoral student has to
prepare in written form either evaluation of measurements or critique of norms
and/or technical instructions from the branch of dissertation according to
adviser recommendation.
