Summary

Students receive detailed information about the structure and chemical properties of natural materials for matufacturing of building materials and informations about chemical composition of own building materials. Production and degradation processes of chosen building materials are described chemically. Attention is given to water chemistry and treatment processes taking place during binders syntheses, phase transformations during firing of raw materials and during hardening of binders. Theoretical findings are verified in practical exercises, which include analytical and test methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
