Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The basic fields of chemistry of elements are addressed in the course: structure of atoms, periodicity of chemical elements properties, theory of chemical bonding, stereochemistry of molecules, principles of chemical equilibrium. These principles are applied in the description of fundamental information of inorganic chemistry. The subject follows to the basic knowledge in order to extend the principles of general and inorganic chemistry with accent on further specialization. Students will be able to : Determine the electronic structure of atoms and ions, their location in the periodic table, apply the periodic trends to interpret the behavior of inorganic substances. Propose the synthesis routes, estimate the reactivity and further properties of inorganic substances.
