Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of these lectures and tutorials is to get abilities in chemistry calculations with various levels of difficulties. Students will use basic calculations in chemistry also in others lectures in Nanotechnology programme such as analytical chemistry, physical chemistry and in chemical laboratory trainning.

Students will use basic calculations in chemistry also in others lectures in Nanotechnology programme such as analytical chemistry, physical chemistry and in chemical laboratory trainning. Seminar is aimed to complete lectures from General and Inorganic Chemistry.

Subject syllabus:

1. Terminology symbols and element names, oxidation numbers, basic terms and nomenclature principles, names of ions, binary compounds, pseudobinary compounds, acids, acid salts, crystalline hydrates 2. Nomenclature isopolyacids, peroxyacids, thioacids and their salts, coordination compounds 3. Basic terms and quantities physico-chemical quantities, molecular weight, substance amount. molar volume, mass of atoms, ions, particle number, etc., 4. Composition of systems I mass, molar and volume fractions, conversions between the weight and the molar fraction 5. Composition of systems II the fraction of the element in the compound, the concentration of the substance amount 6. Preparation and dilution of solutions - substance balance in solutions preparation, formulation and mixing of solutions 7. Chemical equations enumeration and quantification of the reaction without changing oxidation numbers, writing of the ion-form equation 8. Oxidation and reduction enumeration and quantification of the oxidation-reduction equation, including ion-form entry 9. Stoichiometric calculations I chemical balance in chemical processes 10. Stoichiometric calculations II chemical balance in chemical processes - continuation 11. Equation of the ideal gas physical state of gas, isothermal, isobaric, isochoric laws, state equation of ideal gas, gas mixtures 12. Termochemistry standard combined and combustion heat, calculation of standard reaction heat, thermochemical laws 13. Electrolyte solutions, pH calculation dissociation, equilibrium ion concentration, theory of acids and bases, ionic product of water, pH calculation 14. Credit written test in the credit week the examination of the study is carried out by means of a written test, which is part of the point assessment of the subject
