The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge in the field of organic and macromolecular chemistry, with an emphasis on the basic reaction mechanisms of organic compounds and an overview of the properties of organic substances, supplemented by an overview of technically important representatives.

Subject syllabus:
1. Introduction to Organic Chemistry: Nomenclature of organic compounds, structures and bonds of organic compounds, stereochemistry, classification of organic compounds. 2. Hydrocarbons: Alkanes, alkenes and their cyclic compounds, alkynes, arenes - nomenclature, reactivity, physical and chemical properties, reactions, preparations. 3. Derivatives of hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds: halogenderivatives, hydroxyderivatives, carbonyl and carboxylic compounds, S- a N-derivatives, organometallic compounds - nomenclature, reactivity, physical and chemical properties, reactions, preparations. 4. Introduction to macromolecule chemistry: Basic knowledge, characterization of macromolecules, terminology and nomenclature of macromolecular compounds, structure and properties of polymeres 5. Synthesis of polymeres: polymerization reactions, mechanisms of polymerization reactions, initiation and catalysis, propagation, copolymerization, termination, inhibitors. 6. Classification of polymer materials, structures, properties and applications of polymer materials, aging and changes of chemical structures and their influence on properties of polymer materials. 7. Structures and properties of natural macromolecules
