Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Deepening of knowledge about the structural characteristics of nanocomposites.
Learning the procedures of different types of nanocomposite fillers in order to prepare nanoparticles and nanocomposites.
Know and understand methods of preparation. The correctness of decisions when choosing methods and the skill of interpreting results for the characterization of initial and modified materials.

Summary
In the subject will be discussed the nanostructure and properties of nanocomposite materials and their components. Individual groups of nanocomposites are discussed in spite of preparation techniques and applications.

Subject syllabus:
1. Historical development of composite and nanocomposite materials. Basic types, characterization and properties of nanocomposites. 2. Utilization of polymeric nanocomposites in automotive and aerospace industry, protective clothing, fire-fighting substances and corrosive materials. 3. Carbon composites, metal and carbon composites carbon-carbon composites. 4. Ceramic nanomaterials. Carbides, nitrides, oxides, sulfides and bioceramics (compatible with living tissue). 5. Nanoglass and nanoclastered composite metal glass (nanoglass preparation and use for electronic data storage - DVD). 6. Coated nanoparticles (coated nanoparticles and coated materials, super hard-coated nanoparticles, their unique magnetic, optical and catalytic properties of coated nanoparticles in colloidal mixtures). 7. Silsesquioxas (silsesquioxan structure, polyhedral silsesquioxans, silsesquioxans polymers 8. Nanocomposite dyes (basic types, the distribution of color guest and inorganic hosts, methods of preparation of nanocomposite dyes). 9. Metallic nanocomposites based on elements VI - XI and XIV of the group of the periodic table prepared by the sol-gel method. 10. Composite metal carbides, oxides, and Chalcogenides. 11 macromolecular and biological nanocomposites. thermoplastic nanocomposites from cellulose 12. Nanocomposites with supramolecular structures. 13 metal complexes and metals in macromolecules 14. Nanocrystalline silicon.
