Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Preparation, evaluation and use of silicates in function (1) nanofillers into different polymers, (2) silicate washers (carriers) of inorganic and organic substances. Functional properties of the composite depending on the type phyllosilicates, and the concentration of the precursor preparation process, (3) mixtures of silicates in a ceramic component in nanocomposites and their modifications into porous nanocomposites with regard to the desired properties (nanocomposites frictional abrasion resistance and high temperature for nanocomposites sanitary and medical purposes chemically stable, healthy and environmentally friendly).

Summary

Characterization of the selected layered types of the clay minerals kaolinite, talc, montmorillonites and vermiculites and their mechanical and chemical modifications. The aim of the modification of layered structures is preparation of smaller particles, clay mineral matrices of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, clay nanofillers to the polymers and clay precursors to the ceramic nanocomposites.

Subject syllabus:

Preparation of silicates for their use in the function as (1) nanofillers to improve and achieve new specific mechanical properties (eg, antibacterial) of composites clay/polymer, (2) silicate substrate (media) of inorganic and organic compounds that predispose the properties of precipitated nanoparticles of metals or organic molecules on their surface, (3) precursors of mixtures of silicates into ceramic components in nanocomposites to improve the desired composite properties (hardness, porosity, resistance to high temperatures). Structure of silicates and nanocomposites prepared from them characterized using laboratory methods and interpretation of results.
