Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course acquaints with an overview of dangerous layered materials, both natural and synthetic. Both exfoliation and delamination methods of these layers and self-assembly of monolayers are included. Methods of possible modification and intercalation of layers and their evaluation by suitable analytical methods are discussed.

Summary
Structural set-up of layered materials allows the insertion of atomic or molecular guest species between the layers. Such insertion (or intercalation) provides a means for controlled variation of the physical and chemical properties of the host layered material over wide ranges to yield new variants of novel layered materials.
