Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Within the course the student will gain an overview of the possibilities of using nanotechnologies and nanomaterials in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. He will be acquainted with the main types of nanomaterials, which are used for medical applications, especially in the field of drug preparation and drug transport, antimicrobial materials, biosensors, gene therapy, imaging methods, nanorobots and diagnostic tools.

Summary

Within the course the student will acquire knowledge about applications of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies in medical and pharmaceutical field. Inorganic and organic materials will be studied, including carbon nanomaterials and polymeric materials and their potential for pharmaceutical, antimicrobial and medical applications such as diagnostic imaging, gene therapy, biosensors, etc. Attention will also be paid to toxicological aspects of nanomaterials. in this area and current legislation relevant to this topic.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Verification of the achieved study results will be carried out by evaluation of the quality of the seminar work and subsequently by an oral exam.
