Lectures

Summary

Structures of crystallic, amorphous and mesomorphous phases, assembling processes of solids, defects and nonstoichiometry. Modern methods of solid state characterisation, combination of molecular modeling and experiment. Selected chapters from problematics of phase transformations and reactivity of compounds in solid state. Crystallochemistry, structures and bonds in solids, weak molecular interaction. Metallic, covalent and molecular crystals, structures, bonds and qualities.

Subject syllabus:

To clasify fundamental types of crystal structures and bonds. To demonstrate fundamental thermal properties of crystals. To explicate elastic and plastic deformation of crystals. To clasify simple alloys and the structural ordering of alloys. To characterise fundamental concepts from thermodynamics of crystal structures – phase balance and phase diagrams.
